BOUDOIR SESSION – What is it and why should I book one? || ANNA SMITH BOUDOIR || DALLAS WEDDING, LIFESTYLE & BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHER

What is Boudoir? You have heard this word before. Boudoir. Sounds sexy. But what are really boudoir photos? Well, I think it is all relative to the person that is in front of the camera as well as the photographer. So, I will tell you the definition of boudoir photography as I see it. Women are beautiful. Women are to be celebrated. Women are to be admired. I think to me boudoir sessions are all about allowing me to show you that you are beautiful. It’s a way for me to allow you to see a side of you that you haven’t seen before in photos. I also think it’s about empowerment of your strength and inner as well outer beauty. I love posing for the camera, so I will direct you in ways that allow me to capture your best self. Where do you take these? I shoot boudoir either at hotels or wedding venues. I suggest booking a higher end hotel or even getting a Groupon for one of the hotels in advance and booking for the night. Most girls have booked a hotel room for the night and surprise their significant other for a small getaway after the session turning it in to a romantic night away from home. Hotel rooms with large windows that allow the most natural light in the room are wonderful!   What do I bring to a boudoir session? Make sure you bring several changes of outfits you want to try to be photographed in. The more creative the better! Notice I didn’t say less is better. I like my boudoir photos still to be timeless, classy and sexy – this does not mean less clothing all the time – tastefulness is key! Bring champagne, high heels and bright lipstick! Want to make it even more fun? Bring a floral headpiece or a bouquet. Something for you to hold in your hands is a good idea for any photo session. I love greek / gatsby and 1920’s style jewelry / floral headpieces etc. Anything to make things fun and personal and about you. What do past clients say about doing a boudoir session? “Seeing photos of myself allowed me to see myself in a new light and helped me tai an ounce or two of confidence. I didn’t know how sexy I could be!” “I was nervous about the shoot at first but if you are able to step outside of your comfort zone for a little, it’s rewarding to see the final product in the end. The process was less intimidating than I had imagined.” “I would highly recommend a boudoir shoot with Anna Smith. She is so much fun to shoot with and makes you feel beautiful and confident the entire time”   The shoot does not have to be in a hotel. It can also be outdoors. I LOVE outdoor boudoir sessions. They are so natural, and a breath of fresh air never hurts. Hotel, venue or outdoor – whatever your choice may be – it can be a super fun experience. Feel free to bring any props you wish. You can style this as much as you like! Pick a theme and go with it and let me do my magic. I also think it’s fun to bring in elements of the past and some of your hobbies in to the shoot. Love to dance? Tell me. Your fiancé loves baseball? We can definitely work that! All in all, I want you to have fun, feel confident and sexy and be yourself. There is no reason to wait 1 month, 2 months, 3 months to do these. Do it now, and do it for yourself. Nothing to make you feel sexier than a boudoir session! Bridal Boudoir is something that is very intimate and special. If you are wanting to book a bridal boudoir session, I love to tie in elements from your wedding day.  Bring all the details such as your wedding veil and heels you will wear on your wedding day, earrings or a headpiece. Including small details will be fun. Also, if you are doing a boudoir session and are wanting to present a gift album to your fiancé on your wedding day – the guys LOVE that right before seeing you! Trust me!   Thank you & I’m looking forward to photographing the gorgeous you! xo, Anna Smith || Anna Smith Photography || Anna Smith Boudoir || Anna Smith Weddings & Lifestyle  All above shot with mix of Nikon D4s, Nikon D810, Contax 645 Medium Format Camera with Zeiss 80mm lens, Portra800 Film, Fuji400H Film NYLO Dallas Hotel, White Sparrow Barn in Quinlan, Texas, The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, TX.     \
